Meeting Buddhism at the first time

That was May last year when I met a Buddhist from Japan who shared to me the law of cause and effect. Since then I continuously asked him a lot of questions. I was lamenting the resentment and sorrows underlying my health condition, being single parent and family being deceived by scam investment. I insisted that we always kneel every night and day in from of Christ statue in order to have great fortune. However, problem is always following us.

Before meeting Buddhism, I tried to talk to our priest. I asked him why such problem occurred in our family. He said, "God give us problems in order to be strong and come back to Him." Same answer when I asked another pastor from different religion. I just simply wanted to now "why".. I am looking for the cause of my suffering yet most people conveyed it was my destiny.. I am destined to be who I am now.

Until I met the teaching of Law of Cause and Effect. I came to understand that every result has its own cause. I never heard such teachings in my whole existence in Christianity.

As I continuously listen this rare teachings from true master of Buddhism, my understanding became deeper. I could know the root cause of suffering is "darkness mind". Amida Buddha's vow exists to eliminate the darkness mind. Amida Buddha created a great ship that carries us across the sea that is difficult to cross. Until I board to that ship, I would ceaselessly and seriously listen to the true teachings of Buddhism

@dannie for me it was questions about reality. I always had a stirring in me that something was not quiet right. Now I finally realised it was me.
Buddhism is great and I hope we can all cross that river :)

Sorry to hear of your bad luck/karma.

Are you practicing chanting to Amida or something similar?

    Welcome dannie :)

I think it's great that you're benefiting from new perspectives on life. But... just one thing... you mention a few times the "true masters" and "true teachings." Try and be open minded. "True teachings/true masters" are pretty debatable in Buddhism with no real definitive answer (although some may try). But imo, one of the nice things about this board is that, although we come from many paths, we find common ground quite easily. In this way, we are able to learn wisdom that may have not been taught in our "tradition." Truth is truth no matter who speaks it. :)

What if by "God," you could take it to mean "Life?" After all, the Abrahamic religions believe that God is the bringer of all life. When Life presents us with problems, we often have to surrender our egocentrism in order to figure out an appropriate solution.

Not that most priests view God in this way though.
