Hi all! How are you?
In a weeks time I'm off to a Vipassana 10 day retreat.
Has anybody got any pointers for me? I've heard these can be tough.

Take it one breath at a time. Its worth the effort. Let us know how it goes ?
You can also try to get the feel for it at home before going. If possible, do a few long sessions a day with some quiet/study time and breaks in between. Have fun.
good luck
Hi,
Do you need to keep 8 precepts? Hope you are adapting well.
All the best
How exciting. How wonderful. Be at ease.
Intense. Good luck. Look forward to your report. .
Just enjoy the experience, and don't let your mind wander off the point of the retreat. And definitely do not let purple tangerines come to the forefront of your mind. ... \ lol / ...
Thanks guys! I will report back on how it went.
@mmo, yes there are all the additional precepts. Meals until mid day however!
@namarupa ,thanks. I have been building my sitting time to an hour. I've also started doing multiple sessions In a day.
That's really good advice, I will do a two day retreat in my backyard
This is your first experience, @Earthninja, so make the most of it.
Brace yourself because, yes, physically it can be tough.
Psychologically, be ready for a lot of mental chatter to come up, some of it pure crap, some of it enlightening stuff to learn more about yourself and progress on your path.
We are rooting here for you and longing to hear about your experience!! .. ..
I hope it goes well. I think you might be surprised how quickly you settle into a different routine.
If you can, do allow yourself a couple of quiet days when you return.
Good advice. I've found it's important to decompress after a retreat. I've started timing my retreats so I have at least a day for that.
