The mind and subconscious often work in predictable ways. Because of this we can use tools to become a happier person without trying to acquire anything.
A great basic tool is a gratitude journal, everyday just write down 5 things you are thankful for. This allows your thought train to travel into gratitude which makes you happier straight away!
Another one is affirmations. Say a child is called fat at school, those verbal words imprint subconsciously. These thoughts then randomly appear later on and hold some hurtful feelings. The child then suffers and the cycle continues,
You can rewire these by simply saying out loud "I am totally happy with who I am"
Say these over and over with feeling and this wires into the subconscious.
The reason I brought this up is because I read
@federica quote about imagine the person you meet dying that night, and what you do with them in that moment is one of the last things they will have. Or something like that.
This worked so well with my clients, so much compassion knowing that we all must die and they might at any moment. What could I do to make their day more enjoyable?
And a side effect was I felt good too! What a great tool.
Do you guys have any happiness tools?
Try the 5 things of gratitude also.

Glad that I live am I;
That the sky is blue;
Glad for the country lanes,
And the fall of dew.
After the sun, the rain,
After the rain the sun;
This is the way of life,
Till the work be done.
Gratitude for me, is that I am blessed to once again open my eyes and awaken in the morning.
Everything after that is a joyous bonus.
cognitive reframing is a happiness tool

5 Gratitudes:
The sun and nature (honestly that's one go)
Food (I never eat anything else)
Humour
Up (one of my favourite directions)
My camera (enclosed a snap from yesterday)
I see this long lists of gratitude on the app by people who feel thankful and happy for this and that this very second, only to crumble down by one of life blow's five minutes later.
What I consider to be the best tool available for happiness, in my opinion, is simply our even opening up to the possibility that we can be happy in the first place.
With life as it is, right here, right now.
If it is sunshine. If it rains.
Be plain happy with what is and not expect things to be otherwise.
Not wait for the rainbow to appear to be happy.

Understanding that happiness can be as subject to change and suffering cause as everything else.

Gratefulness
If we're practising gratitude then mine are spring and the bluebells that come with it (forests full of them around here; oh and gratitude for the fly who photo-bombed my shot):
