Crazy Islam

The Sufis are the 'crazy' mystics of Islam <3

Their 'description' of God is the height of theistic knowledge
http://www.sunnah.org/aqida/Hallaj_doctrine.htm

Hallaj was one of the Heroes. He declared himself to be 'The Truth', a blasphemy which when he was told he had in ecstasy uttered this, insisted he be executed for blasphemy. Despite protests from his fellow mystics he was duly beheaded. What a guy! Eat your heart out Tantrists. :p

Others insisted the haj (spiritual journey to mecca and cicumambulations around the Kaaba Shrine) could be accomplished by circling them instead ... Just think of the air fares that can be saved ... ;)

The Sufis taught the Turks to dance and the West how to educate. They allowed women in their ranks before such liberalism was feasible. They preserved learning, knowledge and respect for other religions.

Here they are in their best known dress, outside a local asylum ... The chief loon is in black and wearing a felt flowerpot on his head ....

How do you know he is a Celtic?

  • PöljäPöljä Veteran

He has Swiss roots and the Celtic heritage is stronger over there than anywhere else. You know Helvetia.

  • mmommo Veteran

He or she told you that? I don't know Helvetia. It looks like some national symbol or something.

I don't have a red phone with him :) . Read Asterix albums and you'll know a bit more about Helvetia!

... meanwhile for those wondering if the Virgin Mary is inside the Kaaba and wether God is in fact a woman as those mad dervishes suggest ... a little light reading

... and now back to the Great Turkey debate ... B)

Coincidentally, a Swiss band. Classic metal.

Rumi has many beautiful poems that attempt to describe the beauty of the divine

In 14th Century Spain, the Abrahamic religions came together to bathe and swap recipes. This great period of mystical and knowledge flowering, improved KabbAllah [sic], the oral Judaic tradition. Sufism which had by then absorbed teachings from Bhakti Yoga and Greek sources and the Christian dominated thinkers began the great universities that would lead from ignorance and superstition to the modern world ...
