I have a question about interfaith dialogue.
Would you say that it is a positive thing for different religions to stand together in defense of good values?
In your opinion, would it be a positive experience for people of different faiths to gather together and learn about needs of their area and how to create personal and community changes?
Comments
Definitely. It already happens, you know that, right?

And anything you can about Thomas Merton, a Catholic Priest who wanted to be the best Buddhist he could be.
HH the Dalai Lama is constantly involved with interfaith discussions.
Yes, and I am part of groups who work towards that. Inter-faith community meetings are becoming more common, and usually they are started by the leaders of the various faith communities. It's always helpful for people to get together and find common ground to work towards common values/goals.
@tlish
Please define good values?
As many values based upon religious beliefs ( and not scientific proof) often discriminate against minority groups...
What for example is your church's stance on "Homosexuality" and same sex marriage ?
Good Values means different things to different people and more often than not discriminates against others who find themselves outside the so called "good" definition....
The wonderful thing about faith -- any faith -- is that the faith drops away when the faith is put into action. In this way, a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Jain, Hindu, Zoroastrian or whatever all else is perfectly capable of being kind. Once the act of kindness is complete, then we can get back to all the theorizing and believing and and psalm-singing and chopping each others' heads off.
No, because it means imposing your views of what are "good values" on other people. If someone has "bad" values, just leave them alone. What business is it of yours?
Yes, that's a very good idea.
