Yes he was. I remember his book A Brief History of Time in which he sets out a lot of detail about the creation of the universe, it was excellent. I think it is amazing what he managed to accomplish despite his illness...

A boundless universe ... I will be wearing black today ...

Stephen Hawking of my favourite quantum film stars, who popularised the strangness of quantum mechanics. Here he tries to save Schrödinger cat ...

A sense of humour from such disability. Extraordinary. Great loss.

Considering he lived a good 30 to 40 [ETA: Call it 50!] years more than his doctors predicted he would -

Hawking's condition was first diagnosed when he was 21, and he was not expected to see his 25th birthday.

    • I think it was a blessing and honour to have him among us. And yes, his sense of humour was incredible. Such a funny man. What a loss.

    Funniest interview ever...!

If you haven't seen it, now would be a good time to watch A Theory of Everything, great man, great film.

(It never ceases to amaze me how many people really loved Stephen Hawking, considering that 98% of them didn't understand a fucking thing he was talking about.)

Yea i'd like someone to explain to me in detail plz
I did have a small thing I didn't like because he is a bit too pro space colonization for me but the fact he did come up with some really great ideas is quite inspiring.
It is sad he has passed away. He was quite iconic.

    Tee Hee.
Modern theoretical physics is beyond most of us, very specialised. I don't understand it.
