Doesn't appear to me from your comments here that it is an obsession .... hope you let us know what you decide.

Just a related subject, Buddhist tattoos are probably not respectable. Considering our bodies are pretty filthy. Do you go around rubbing your sweaty armpit etc on Buddha's statues?

I suggest: Say hello to my little friend.

The craving and obsession into the unnecessary.
Unecessary damage caused to your body is against the wise teaching:cool: Use it wisely instead.

Generally speaking my body is cleaner than an outdoor statute, where the elements beat down on it, birds do their business on it, some might spit on it, who knows. I shower daily though.

Two young women were discussing the sexual prowess of a particular young man. One had made love to him and one had not. "I'd never sleep with a guy who had "Shorty" tattooed on his penis," said the one who had not slept with the young man. "Well, you may be right," said the one with experience, "but it's kind of nice to find out that it really says, "Shorty's Bar and Grill. Tuscaloosa, Alabama."
Lol!!

If your body is dirtier than a statue I'd suggest a bath.

Hee!

I'm reminded of the old "some people treat their body like a temple, I treat mine like an amusement park". :)

Of course, if the body is a shrine, it's one that's as prone to impermanence and decay as anything else. It's a shell. Is it possible to 'desecrate' your own shell?

All the poos, wees, pus, bile, gastric juice are within!

Robots on cartoons are not wrong when they call humans "meat bags". Hence putting the image of Buddha onto a filthy meat bag is probably not very respectable.

But I guess not much harm done if Thailandtom put a kitten tattoo or something on his schlong. Still, $20 can feed one starving African child!

*nod* I know what you mean..or "skin bags"..or "ugly bags of mostly water" (from a silicon-based species on Star Trek: The Next Generation). But would doing this hurt the Buddha somehow? I thought that was voodoo ;)

The same could be said of anything one spends money on, including internet usage. Ahem.

Wait 20 years when you can put microchips that can interface. You can text message eachother during sex. Hiding that you are secretly checking your to do list. Of course in virtual reality world like the moon or secretly in a movie theater or whatever.

i went actually 3 days ago to a tattooist with some designs, well i went to 2 for a price comparison. He said he would work on some designs and then email me. thai people take their time with everything normally, so it will happen when it happens lol, BUT it will happen.

Some swedish couple I talk to spoke of hepatitis with tattoos, anybody know much information on this?
• Diseases can be common with tattoos. You are dealing with open wounds, after all. Tattoos are typically done with a series of needles, and as such diseases that are common with needles, blood transfusions, and open wounds can be common with tattoos.

However, the common factor between diseases and tattoos is the cleanliness of the shop. If everything is sanitized and properly cared for, the possibility of you getting hepatitis is very low. As a matter of fact, you have a greater chance of getting it at a public bathroom than a tattoo shop. However, if the place isn't cared for, and the artist reuses needles, or doesn't use anti-microbial soap on the chairs and equipment, you're inviting an infection of some kind.

Always inspect a shop and check to see how sanitary they are. That's why some states require health inspections for tattoo parlors, just like with medical facilities and restaurants. Never take a quality tattoo (or quality tattoo artist) at a poor shop.
