"What's the big deal?"
Background:
My daughter is taking beginner's lessons in Tibetan Buddhism from my teacher, who is one of the Dalai Lama's senior monks and a geshe. Last week, he gave them an English mantra, the one above, to be accompanied with a shrug of your shoulders. Admittedly, it was a playful gesture on his part .. but really Buddhism IS about discovering and relaxing into reality.
As the quote says:
“Everything is always changing. If you relax into this truth, that is Enlightenment. If you resist, this is samsara (suffering).”
Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse, “What Makes You (Not) a Buddhist”
My sister and I like to laughingly call Buddhism The Big "So What"?
It is our inability to say "So What" that creates our suffering.
Buddhas are cool
^^^ Awesome. Buddha Trolls!
