What you need most these days is a really good web browser... even a really large and complex creative environment such as Adobe’s Creative Cloud is served as a web app, and so if your browser can handle it you can do sophisticated work. Linux probably has a version of Chrome that runs on it. Or not?

I would go with a MacBook Pro, and MacOS Mohave.
My computers are also almost all Macs. Its a very hassle-free environment, for the most part you can just get on with doing what you need to do rather than spending time maintaining the machine.
