I came across this video on Youtube (thanks algorithm) which I wanted to share and discuss.
For those who cannot be bothered watching all 24 minutes (the intro question is rather long and somewhat rambling), Rupert Spira here teaches that we do not desire things and spiritual whatnots, but these are only placeholders for wanting happiness. He also teaches that our true nature is unchanging and contented, fulfilled. For more detail, watch the video.
Thought it was a pretty good teaching.

To "catch" a cat
If you chase it - you will never catch it
You seek it, you will see it
Do not go to it for it wili stay away
Be gentle - be patient
Place near you what nourishes it
When it approaches, be still
Gently encourage it
Coax it softly until it comes to you
Caress it softly but do not grab it
It will become yours and you it's
Thus you catch the cat
And the cat, still free, catches you
If you wish to "Catch" enlightenment, think of the cat
Peace to all
We can talk about depth of realisation or extent of settling.
… So I AM or being happy-content or non-duality/distracted being is fine as a living. That too dies.
The Cat Sat on the Mat!
Hmm....
When you're without any worldly
or religious obligations,
Don't keep on longing to acquire some!
If you let go of everything —
Everything, everything —
That's the real point!
