Gratitude for NewBuddist

Aloha! Gratitude for this space, here at NewBuddhist

I 'flowed' in last year, and this site continues to feed me.
The Daily Drops have become essential in my studies, and the Discussions are fantastic to read.
When I come here, I feel like what my Christian co-workers describe as their 'small-groups' @ church. :)

Thank-you to the Mods for what I view as a great job done.
Thank-you to all who take the time to post and answer.
@Jason, Gratitude for all the links you post.

May we all support a healthy atmosphere in which to practice.
Sending Love, Light, and Metta.

@Vastminds, I join you in being grateful for this space! This was really the first Buddhist forum or site of any kind that I felt at home, because it represents every tradition and no tradition whatsoever (is non-discriminatory). This was helpful to me because it opened up the many possibilities and different perspectives that one might view Buddhism and Buddhist practice in general.

    This is our on-line Sangha.
We share our lives, our practice and help enrich each other in the Dharma.
    It's a blessing

Gotta chime in with another thank-you...was running into dead-ends on a search for information--suddenly it occurred to me to do the ol' "[search term] + newbuddhist" thing, and voila! All the info I needed, complete with witty analysis and commentary (I mean that seriously!)

Thank you, NewBuddhist, for being such a fantastic, discussion-driven encyclopedia on things-Buddhist!
  • Add my signature to this thank-you note. I am learning a lot here. My friends are not so interested in Buddhism, and I have precious little time with my Sangha, so my pursuit of Buddhism has been somewhat of a solitary endeavor. This site helps me feel supported and a sense of shared enthusiasm.

As per @cwexl above, absolutely agree. With a young family I don't have time with a physical sangha so you guys are my online version. Thank you!! Peace.
  • Yes, add my thanks too. I must say I like the changes you have made to the site since I joined. Keep up the good work!

    That it is.
I have read a number of Buddhist forums and contributed to some, and New Buddhist is the best in terms of moderation and diversity.
It is moderated with a light but skillful touch...not easy.
Probably not kosher to say this...but with Dhamma Wheel semi moribund due to an authoritarian and overly male orientation *, and all the most interesting members having migrated from Dharma Wheel to set up a highly specialised forum, New Buddhist stands out from the throng even more sharply.

Well done to all of you, Mods and members.

    * If that sounds harsh..it has nearly six thousand members and about FOUR regular female posters....and does not see this as a problem..

    Nice post, @Citta ;)
  • You are welcome chuck.
  • Yep. Please add me to the list of fans. I've only just started spending time here but it's a wonderful place.
  • Near the top of my bookmarks. Much appreciated site.

  • I joined several Buddhist forums and blogs right around the same time - just several months ago. NewBuddhist is the only one I'm still involved in today.

No, it's not 'perfect' (what forum is??) but it is always interesting!

    Thanks NewBuddhist
  • I am far away from my Sangha right now, and I've gotten great responses and plenty of ideas for where to look for new information on my research topics. Thanks everyone! :)
  • Yes, the mods have really done a tremendous job in cleaning up some chronic troll problems we had in the past, so now there's a very pleasant atmosphere. That means a lot, and I've discovered it's very difficult to find anywhere on the internet. Go, mods!

  • Checked out a few other Buddhist forums, and this is the place that feels most like "home" for me. Thank you for creating this site, and thanks to those genuine folks here that have made me feel welcomed; thanks for helping me stay informed while not treating me like a complete idiot. ;)

I have only been on for a few days, but I have virtually stopped using Facebook because of this site. There are more friendly people of corse, and If @TheEccentric would have never informed me, I would still be lost in a web of bad influence.
