It was a hot day and I was walking past one of those sign-waving guys working on the street corner. An approaching car slowed down and the passenger held out a bottle of water for him. He put down the sign, took the bottle and said "thanks!", and the car continued on its way.

It's articles like these that remind me that cynicism is not truly warranted.

Yes, the world is a vast, scary and often dangerous & cruel; but there are truly good people out there (little pockets of light, if you will) that do make it better. Even if it is just a little bit at a time.
