The Buddha walks into a Bar....

Wondering....anyone here read it?

I was having a terrible night last night.
Why? Because of course, nothing went the
way I expected it to. I was mad, hurt, and frustrated.
I was getting hooked by my negative emotions.
I knew it too.
I drove off.

I went to the comfty chair in the bookstore,
and this was the first one in the 'Eastern Religion'
section that I saw. :) , and hadn't read it yet.

Whew! By page 95....My mind
was back together. My confidence was back.
His descriptions and practical advice about
the tiger and snowlion really stuck with me.

Gratitude Lodro!

I read it.. even though it's written by a Mahayana lay person outside my own tradition, I still think it was pretty good. There was stuff in there I did not necessarily subscribe to or agree with being a Theravadan, but overall it was good dhamma and worth the read.

My favorite part is that I view the Buddha in similar ways as to the author. he calls him " our buddy Sid" and I call the buddha " the awesome dude" lol. I've taken to saying my buddy Sid a few times, kind of like it.

we should strive, as followers of the path, to not be too attached to one side or "way". This is what I do. There were times where I wanted to put down the book because my mind just totally disagreed, but I kept on reading. I recommend the book to people of all traditions.

A priest, a rabbi, and a buddhist monk walk into a bar, sit at the end and start having some drinks. Two hours later, they come out with a better understanding of each other and a mutual respect, the beginnings of a friendship that last a lifetime.
