A sign of Compassion

Are you suffering? Me too.
Sucks eh?
What hope is there?

A sign of compassion is to drop the cynicism, drop the 'what difference does it make', drop the negativity
and take a small step, a small sign of change
http://charterforcompassion.org/

This really is the change we require. Drop the 'poor me' attitude.
We are all poorme's and pooryou's.
In being kind, in trying to be kind, perhaps flailing or failing, always trying, we change our emphasis.

I believe we can save the world. Starting with our world. Shakyamuni would be proud (in a detached and nirvanic sort of way)

    Or high on nirvana?
You do not exactly 'get high'. What happens is the peaks and troughs level out . . .

Before I had studied Ch'an for thirty years, I saw mountains as mountains, and rivers as rivers. When I arrived at a more intimate knowledge, I came to the point where I saw that mountains are not mountains, and rivers are not rivers. But now that I have got its very substance I am at rest. For it's just that I see mountains once again as mountains, and rivers once again as rivers.

I am OK, where you sneaking a bit of compassion by me? Bravo!

YES- I'm going to go see HHDL!!!!

WOW, very cool! I hope you get close enough and make eye contact or even speak together. I know I would be excited to 'meet him' ...I hope you enjoy the conference.
I can't wait to hear about your experience, so don't forget to fill us in!

And don't let any DL detractors (around here) ruin your anticipation.

Thanks @MaryAnne! It's a big arena, so I have no hopes of speaking to him, and from the looks of the seating chart, probably won't be making eye contact, either. But that's okay. I have missed several opportunities to see him, and I swore that I wouldn't miss the next chance-- and that was before Buddhism was a part of me. I don't follow TB, but I think this is a great opportunity to hear a Dharma talk from one of the greatest influential Buddhist leaders that the West has seen.

And hopefully those who are not fans of the HHDL will remember Right Speech when reading /replying to this thread. :skeptic:
