Well he may have been a queen, king, Hindu heretic, alien, human or whatever but what has that got to do with me? What if he had been a crazy holy man? It is hard enough being sane . . . let alone having to deal with half forgotten teachings from antiquity . . .

What happens if I am just unsuited to all this being kind, being wise etc?

Can't I just be normal?

    I am convinced that "normality" is a product of hubris. Which is also closely connected to what is perceived as "reality."

    "Arrogance of the Third Kind (hubris)", in a word, sucks.

    I think we can infer from that, that being sane ('normal') is actually abnormal, and our normal state is one of abnormality.

    It's like one of those paradoxes eh?

    What I said was what I felt in response to the OP rather than a critique of the purpose of Buddhism.

    Normal just says that you are part of MY tribe. Just another delusive equivalent for what makes one feel comfortable or predictable.
