An interesting way to pray a mantra.

Well, my car died last night around ten thirty, and after a half hour I began to walk home. I prayed OM Tara TuTara Ture Svoha for ten miles, drizzly foggy rain, and few street lights. And then again four times on my mala. It was comforting, except for the blister I found on my foot this morning. :coffee:

I was playing Amitaba chanting on my Ipod earphones whilst shopping for seeds and plants this morning. Had a great time. So chanting/mala recitation is not just for the difficult times. Sometimes I play 'manis' or other mantras and sometimes just chant internally. They all have a different effect. I bet you enjoyed your coffee ;)
. . . which reminds me of the story of the strawberry . . .

Buddha told a parable in a sutra:

A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.

Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!
