emoticons are not working on my system too - i think @federica has said to @Lincoln to look into this issue in some other thread in which federica had replied, which i read yesterday.
but some keyboard keys shortcuts are working like : and ) combined gives
Nope....still not working. As soon as they disappeared....I knew I was attached...hahaha. Everyone seems to have carried on..... and the smiles haven't stopped .......
I'm hesitant to say something now...hahaha....but... I'm not sure if notifications are working either. A couple people have quoted me and responded.... but I didn't get a notification like I used to.....

But when I do the instructions & enclose it between colons, most of the time it doesn't work.
I agree with Dakini. Too much hassle and not always successful...and the emoticons are useful because they sort of give body language to a post...which can sure change the meaning and lighten things up.
Ok, last thing on a line or in message, smilies do not work unless enclosed in text of some sort. IF, however, you put text around them, even like .... ..... you get a smilie, nice and neat. Lincoln is working on a bunch of stuff for folks.
I know it's lowercase...I did it to show you. When someone does mine with lowercase i dont get notification. Did the notification say I mentioned you...or I said something in the thread? I could be wrong. Don't mind me .....

Also, @Linc, say you're on the general discussions index page.
You click on a thread. You access said thread.
You read, or comment, but the 'discussions' option, on the top bar, is no longer available. You get 'newbuddhist' and the sub-forum you're in.
So to go back to the discussions page, you have to take whatever circuitous rout you choose.
OH NO! We've lost our old collection of emoticons? No, Linc, ya gotta bring 'em back! Some of 'em were so cool! AND: we still don't have a praying-hands one, you know, for "Namaste", or any Buddhist gesture of gratitude, or whatever. And we need a rolling-on-the-floor-laughing one. And the "om" one was a good one. There were so many good ones. I liked the little guy who would get hopping mad, waving his little fists around. Can't you bring back the oldies but goodies? What about the thumbs-up one? Some of those were ESSENTIAL!

So now that you've discovered my true identity, watch your step!

I think @lincoln needs to address another issue! Give him time, learn patience
When doing an @ to notify...make sure it matches the name exactly...capital letters, spaces, etc., otherwise it doesn't hit.
@ anataman @Anataman

Smile, and pass it on ... ...
Got it If you know what I mean
FYI I have a lowercase a not an A as in @anataman, but it still hit me with capitalisation lol - but really i'm not worthy of anything more...

No just checked it out - I was not notified by the capitalisation. Just made aware by your comment @Vastmind or @vastmind !
It should be case-insensitive. What won't notify you is if they mess up and then edit it to correct it.
We have some new smilies! And they all work! Not all of them are in the dropdown list so try out the auto-complete to find more. :relieved:

Cool @Linc
Appreciate the new formatting bar and emoticons. Tried to give you a couple of stars from pull down menu?
(*) Asterisk between parens get you a star.
In Markdown, surrounding something in asterisks means italics. That means no double stars for you One per serving.
Where's the mullet? ah impermanence you old friend!
I can bring back requested ones as long as they don't duplicate the news ones. Like, I don't need 2 versions of for instance.
@Linc, sorry, but as an aside, I have this at the bottom of my screen....?
Debug Trace
Info FormattedMessage: Invalid transient key for federica.
Info
context: array (
'event' => 'csrf_failure',
'userid' => '61',
'username' => 'federica',
'ip' => '90.210.115.239',

'method' => 'GET',
'domain' => 'http://newbuddhist.com',
'path' => 'discussion/22003/so-perhaps-your-thoughts',
)
The bottom line of which, changes according to the thread I am currently looking at.
And where's the 'quote' facility....?
Yes I'm missing the quote option too. @Linc is it possible to bring back the namaste emoticon please?
Metta,
Raven _ /\ _
I want a "I'm throwin' a fekkin' tantrum, so there!" emoticon..... :#

I fixed the breadcrumbs now
You're such a hero....
BUt the emoticons are so boring!
Oh well - that's life....
@Linc did say he could add to them, providing they don't duplicate what we now have.
OK, I'd like a slaphead'
'bang head against wall'
'rolleyes'
'no, no, no, no, no'......
Oh, and one wielding a AK47, with a cigar in its mouth.
but that's optional....
There are so many to choose from, though...
:cold_sweat:
For a full selection, type a colon : followed immediately by an upper-case letter of the alphabet.
:R brings up 'relieved', 'relaxed' and 'rage'.
:SS brings up all manner of kissing ones...
Tried coloning and using old terms - but, well, the current set of images lacks the imagination of a bygone NB age!
lol
Thank you, Lincoln, for fixing the emoticons!!!

C'mon, Linc.... ?

Existence sure is Dukkha. Everything is temporary. Impermanency is part of life. Have to give up attachments and ye Olde emoticons . . .
Well, at least we finally have a one. Small consolation. .
