A real shaggy duck story.
PS I briefly wondered if the thread title was cockney rhyming slang.
Indeed.
Metta is the key ... to everything Waddle, waddle.
Thanks @yagr ... that clip was ducking awesome
Which reminds me of another ducking awesome event I witnessed on my way home from work this afternoon...(The ducklings have grown heaps in the last couple of weeks)
Little story. When I was stationed at the Pentagon way back in my military days and President Reagan was building satellites to shoot down nuclear missiles (the "good old days") I discovered that the open space in the huge building (known as Ground Zero) was a park for eating lunches. In the very center was a pentagon shaped hut that sold hotdogs and drinks.
Anyway, every year some ducks would fly in, mate, and bring forth another generation of ducklings in the trimmed bushes. They hung around the center eating hot dog buns and other food we tossed to them. The military installed a special little kid's pool for them to have water. And when it was time, the military sent in a squad to round up the baby ducks, stick bands on their legs, and transport them to water while their mom followed because there was no way out of the center.
These ducks and their descendants, according to lore, had been coming there since the place was built. I sometimes wonder if they still are. I used to sit on a bench there in the quiet park and throw pieces of hot dog bun at the ducks, and marvel that at the center of the most powerful military on Earth was an oasis of peace.
