Yes and yes. I use that and Buddhify. Insight lets you do whatever you want to do. you can just set a timer and go you can participate with a group, friend or a specific teacher. You can do guided meditations or meditation to various nature sounds etc. Very easy to use.
I like Buddhify for specific situations it is all guided but you select what you are dealing with (whether you are waiting for someone, dealing with illness, falling asleep or whatever) and you can choose meditations from like 4 to 20 minutes within many categories. I love having it with me when I am waiting for kids to be done with activities, or I put it to go when I am driving and it keeps me focused.
Thank you @karasti . Sounds like they are well worth a look at. Will check it out. Does this forum have a group on insight app?
I've just downloaded the Insight Timer Meditation app. I'm Hozan there too if anybody wants to be my friend there.
Honestly, I am not sure! My teacher runs a group there. i think there are some people here who are friends on Insight, hopefully they will chime in and you can connect.
There is 2 Hozan's there. are you from Princeton MA or from Cork?
Cork in Ireland.
There is a newbuddhist group on Insight Timer. It's small but it's there if you're interested.
I got my first green star recently. I'm such a Buddhist now!
Thank you!!
Excuse my technological ignorance but how do you post to say hi in an insight app group. There doesnt seem to be any way to do it
I am an Insight Timer user and fan.
In fact, I am kept really busy administrating two groups there at the moment.
My user name there is Carol of Switzerland, and the groups are "Relationships" and "Tao and Zenpathy," in case you care to visit, @Hozan.
You must join a group, and after five days being an IT user, you are allowed to post.
Edit: the Insight Timer New Buddhist group has been underused, @person.
I left it some time ago, but joined again right now.
Maybe we could rekindle it somehow?
I joined as well. Now what
Now we spread the Peace. I used the standard timer on my Ipad yesterday. It takes a little more effort to use the Insight Timer but I am up for a bit of group participation and resonance ... once again.
No rest for the wikid, bodhi or Mahayana ...
Hi @DhammaDragon @lobster @karasti joined you all on deck aboard the good ship Insight Timer. Blessings to you all amigos.
I stopped using insight timer for some unknown reason, rejoined yesterday and the NB group. Would be nice to make something of it,
I agree.
We could enliven the group a bit...
I rarely have data turned on on my phone but I do use insight timer offline. Just tried to find the New Buddhist group after checking my profile online but a groups search didn't reveal anything. On a side note I've got 817 hours of meditation logged since I started using it. I've impressed myself.
If someone could tell me how to join the New Buddhist group I'd appreciate it. I'm Traveller in Nottingham on IT.
@Lonely_Traveller: I have found you and sent you an invitation to the group and a friend request
try newbudhist all one word lower case letters

Thanks folks, appreciated.
Sent you a friend request too
I haz befriended. Friends who meditate is good karma ...
Meditating together is good practice. Supporting others is sadhana.
Also for me it provides Sangha
Bla bla bla, @lobster ...
Just stay in the app for good, please
We love you Lobster, We do
We love you Lobster, We do
We love you Lobster, We do
O Lobster We Love you
Thanks for the friend requests folks.
Thanks, @Hozan. That's gonna be my earworm all day now.
No, really.
Thanks.
What do groups do on there anyway? I only belong to newbuddhist and Dudeism, neither are large or "active", whatever that means.
I created a group called "Relationships," which is extremely active.
And "Tao and Zenpathy," which is pretty new and active by turns, @person.
@federica: you will have to keep an eye on the IT group.
It would be nice to reactivate it.
> O Lobster We Love you
Too kind
Don't encourage the crustacean ...
... some of us are not so compassionate ... me for example ... especially with my egoic self ...
Could you send me one too please?
Are you @dhammachick on insight too or a different name?
I'm on there as Alizah
Invitation sent
Got it thanks
