How to quote?

Could someone please explain the mechanics of quoting on this forum?

I have been having difficulties when wanting to quote just part of a post that is relevant ie. that I want to respond to.

Maybe the answer/solution could be useful also to others...

Thanks!

To set a paragraph in the quote bubble the first two characters of the paragraph are a > followed by a space, that's it. Each time you hit enter you need to do it again to include it all in the same bubble.

For example, if you have two paragraphs with a gap between them you need "> " in the gap as well. Quote this post to see the example. The double "> > " means its a quote in a quote and will be collapsed in the new post.

When you hit the Quote button it will include the entire text of the post you are quoting, with > quote markers at the start of each paragraph. You then have to edit it (by hand) to select the part that you want to include in your post.
