Dear Friends of Buddhism tomorrow, today and yesteryear,

1) Newbuddhist.com was impossible to visit by me due to emergency protection by @Linc to protect the site from AI generated swamping (I suspect)
2) Buddhism is an acquired template not a cure all
3) Do not mistake opinions or temporary for Buddhist 'Gospel'
4) Buddhism may be one of 'The Boys' (available as a TV series) that includes super heroic propaganda/hagiography
5) Don't drink the kool-aid or lose critical insight
6) Does it work for you? Then you are doing it right, for change
7) Good luck is possible. Work towards it...

What have you Learned recently?

Should be improved now. We dialed it in a bit better this afternoon.

Anything that involves attachment in the form of "anxious attachment / avoidant attachment" / craving "/ view of "this is how it should be" usually ends up poorly.

Following precepts works best (and sticking to them!) in situations where you try to use logic to convince yourself how it is acceptable in that particular circumstance.

Yes… a friend of mine, who I have a chat with on WhatsApp every morning, suddenly stopped answering all her social media accounts. She wouldn’t pick up the phone either when I rung her up. That was a real exercise in letting go, when someone you are that close with, suddenly drops off the radar.

It turns out she had suffered a psychotic episode and was admitted to a closed psychiatric ward, she is now slowly recovering and letting a few people know what happened. She was gone for nearly a month… she is still there but now considered stable enough to communicate.

It is a shock when habits are disturbed.
