“Many people dedicate their lives to actualizing a concept of what they should be like, rather than actualizing themselves. This difference between self-actualization and self-image actualization is very important. Most people live only for their image.”

I think one of the major dangers of any school that's faith/devotional in practice, especially when it's leaders/guru or master lack any objective oversight mechanisms, is how poorly able its members can be at recognizing their own cognitive dissidence or cult like behaviors, despite what ever suffering results from it..

What is the right thing to do in this situation according to Buddhism?
Wake up or dream your life away? Which would anyone choose? 🙏🏽

Nationalism rising in Ukraine. Thanks Mr Putin. Mr Bandera is now a fashion item even!
"Vicious mindless violence that offers nothing new
Left wing violence, right wing violence, all seems much the same
Bully boys out fighting, it's just the same old game
Boring fucking politics that'll get us all shot
Left wing, right wing, you can stuff the lot
Keep your petty prejudice, I don't see the point
Anarchy and freedom is what I want."

@federica Older techniques are not necessarily better, otherwise there would be no progress. I’m not saying Chinese medicine has no merit, but those who were inventing these techniques were not doing so from an evidence-based approach, and so what has developed is a system where people operated more from hope than from proof of function. I would love to see an objective statistical study of its efficacy.

I'm a little late answering this question.
The time is always later than we think or just right, dependent on the tradition. Personally I like all facets of the jewelled sangha. A real potential inspiration.
How fortunate that online adepts can adapt our behavour just by example and talks. The dharma has so much to offer …
