Hi
what makes you happy?
Are you happy right now?
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him.
If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought,
happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him. “

What makes me happy:
1. Horses
2. YouTube videos.
3. Good, healthy food.
4. Helpful people.
We could be here a long time. I think we choose to be happy.
I make myself happy. The things I enjoy on a daily basis change, and what "made" me happy yesterday might not today depending on my mood. But I can make the choice to do the things to take care of myself, including my state of mind, that make me more able to maintain a calm state of mind. Happiness, for me, is not getting worked up and stressed out. But I enjoy a lot of things, like puzzles, reading, sunrise/sunset, sunny days, summer time, taking the time to cook and enjoy a great meal, watching my kids laugh etc. Any one of those things can be a source of frustration under different conditions though.
"I" don't really know, but I do enjoy pursuing it
Being released from suffering, that is quite good. Being in nature, beach walks, mountain walks. Family gatherings, I like the emotional closeness. Making delicious food for other people.
A great question. There is happiness that is conditioned by circumstances - always temporary, ephemeral. And there is happiness that is unconditioned, the joy, perhaps, that is one of the factors of enlightenment, and is independent of circumstances.
The one thing, the one conditioned thing, that always makes me happy is the act of painting. This seems to be because in painting I am able to focus on one thing and one thing only. All other thoughts are banished, all the dark clouds of the mind are blown away like smoke in the wind, energy flows unimpeded and all the turbulence of life is banished for a while.
As for unconditioned happiness, still working on it.
Everything
Yes
When I am happy, it is total. I am listening to birdsong, bubbling brook and music (an app called flow) whilst posting to NewBuddhist ...
In fact I would call it euphoric ...
The Buddha done it ... !
Yeah I'm shallow. But at least I can admit it.
No but centred would be more accurate.
The thing that made me most happy yesterday was taking my dog for a walk in the park. It was a breezy, Autumnal day and the leaves were crunching under our feet as we strolled by the creek. It's always calming and peaceful to spend time with nature, and my dog loves exploring outside, which makes me even happier to know that I brought him a little happiness in return for all the happiness he brings me.
working towards my materialistic aim - don't know if that makes me happy, but it keeps me actively engaged.
What do you really want, happiness or peace?

I love being out in nature. It's so...natural.
In other words...happiness is the journey and not the destination....
The "Dharma".
That fool cructacean is confused again ... the app is for IOS and is called 'flowing'
At the moment I am doing chores, which is of course NOT something to get over but to enjoy ... OK I am on a break, which I am happy about ...
Puppies and kittens.
Falling asleep on the couch in the middle of weekend afternoon watching The History Channel..
Helping others. Not putting myself in the first seat all the time
Ok I have this little repair that needs patching...............
Hello Iam not superman, you live far away from me, in the land down under
Here come the feeble excuses...! Huh!!
Happy =. The beginnings of inner calm and self worth I've recently discovered, and walking through autumnal trees whilst silently chanting.
What makes you (me) happy?
Pretty much everything. (Yes, even the "bad" stuff).
Peace to all
I have things in my life that give me pleasure.
As my practice develops I find that happiness isn't as dependent on getting the things that I enjoy and avoiding the things I don't want.
This came to me via Facebook; one of those rare moments when it was actually worth seeing something there....
I liked it, anyway....
I'd like to be able to say this too. But I can't quite. I am fundamentally happy. Never quite really content, but definitely happy. I don't think there's anything I do, or think, to bring this about, though. It's often said that you're happy if you decide to be, but that doesn't match my experience. I think I must be happy for the same reason I have brown eyes. No virtue or effort or decision on my part; just lucky.
Sounds good. Scrunchy even when the leaves are down and dry ...
Very important - inner calm and self worth. Find your happy. Then some more. Keep up the good work.
We haz happy plan!
Hi, I'm new here! What makes me happy? Quite a few things do...
While posting this it's been nice to reflect on what makes me happy because it shows to me that it's the little things that bring joy to my life. So I don't need to get too anxious about the other things going on in the world which are not part of my direct experience or things that, if they go wrong, won't really affect my happiness.
Tee Hee!
^^. Making lists, reflecting through blog or journal ... mmm good plan ...
Happy list:
I woke up.
I was alive.
Never fails to make me happy...
I find this fake Buddha quote a pertinent reminder...
