Look at you!! Talking your heart out, haha. Nice to finally know where you’re from…you said Cambodia right? Your music choices are always good…i just saw Janet Jackson last year when she toured…we had great seats and she put on a wonderful show!
There you go slipping in 2 live crew, haha…what I tell you about that too much sex stuff?? Listen, I was on the Miami bass music scene in the 80’s, so i get the whole free speech thing…but I don’t get the whole mixing it with religion/Buddhism thing. That’s where a lot of groups and people start trying to tie and justify animal behavior with spiritual behavior. Anyway….you said time to work…do I remember right that your a landscaper? Do you enjoy it?

from my point of view it can be tied to secular ideals in buddhism. liberty in buddhism is the principle of buddhist volition--free to choose how to live. Justice tied buddhist karma/ethic in how we conduct ourself. Equality is tied to buddhist concept of buddha nature

so far the list of daozen earth principle is
    1.free will /born free
    2. karma/active life

    1. change/imperminance

the 3rd one is the priinciple of change and imperminance. this feature life cycle and death affects us the hardest. a double edge sword. its a blessing and a curse.

the blessing. life is a miracle. how amazing earth gave us such diversity in life forms. plant life and animal life--which we are too--born free and to live free. its just a given, the process of change in our makeup from conception a sperm and egg to an embryo/fetus. time is link to change. eventually the embryo becomes a baby--continue to grow and change into teanager an adult and eventually death. hence the cycle of change and imperminace comes to an end.

the good thing about change we continue change the nature of our brain. our brain evolve with time. what we were --baby-- continues to age--into adulthood. in my dao zen a baby can teach us the base instinct is prefered to the fully develop brain of an adult. a baby brain function just operate at its fundamental level of exercising its brain. base brain recieve and give response. the 6 sense organ in its most natural processess. this is zen original beginner mind. the brain just recieves the out world with out interpritative e-go narrative name and form because language is not introduce yet. the baby just accept what is in its head. see see. hear hear. the six sense organ just is. so in my zen be a child and absorb the 6 sense organ without e-go comenary. a rose is a rose in a sense.

but all good things come to end. the buddha during his death bed, told his followers all compounded this or that are subject to change/decay be diligent in awareness.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

    Change leads to death.

death is heavy. knowing i will die is scarey. that is circle of life. a beginning-birth end with death. in my daozen practice acceptance is the begining of wisdom. in buddhism we srive to see the truth. facts of life. there is free will/volition. there is karma/do work in action. there is change in life and death. to accept this observation as a given our headspace can start to live anyway, and pursues safe, smart, well strategies.

so keep on keep on . we have no choice. what a dance of life.

let go and move foward with them in your heart.

in my dao zen, when love ones pass away we acknowledge that lost. in cambodian culture we have alter of familiy ancestors. we would offer food and incence/candle. i would give a buddhist wish. i hope you are well and happy.

my parents in my heart as i walk on. sometimes i think of them.a thing can trigger a thought about them. but parents are practicle people. they would want me to move on. take care of myself and live on. i appreciate them. the buddha says your first teachers are your parents. and the circle of life. we thank our parents of raising us and when the times comes we raise them in their old age. with heart we carry on...

Let your natural awareness be you guide.

if we keep that in mind, this awareness of lifes markers we can direct our headspace to better skillful ways to negotiate lifes demands. see the pattern on earth. there is volition--free will in all creature. my daozen attitude live and let live. let other creature express their bodhi. observing creatures is informative and hepful in our common goal to hunt and gather stuff for daily needs. see two squarels fight for a nut is funny. we are not uncomon to fight over the bread in the dinner table. and all is karma the earth all in all do work. and all change, grow and die. be dilligent in this awareness in our headspace. make it a long term memory. because when we are aware the triple jewel of reality life becomes manageable.

so in zen exercise our volition and practice freedom and ways towards peacfull means

so in zen exercise your karma in loving kind ways to your self and others

so zen exercise the art of acceptance to change and adapt to channge.

in dao zen practice i accept these features in life. go with season is a mantra of mind. and be one with these dao law dharma. dao and dharma aime is know the law and be the law like buddha. be his dharma in a sense. the law is the way, the truth and life in us all.

the buddha frame the brain as an organ. and as a function. there is no mind without the brain. the e-go is the function of brain. the process of brain recieve the other stimuli through the senses form the concept of mind. this mind we call self.

the buddhist approach to manage and regulate speech.

refrain from false speech.for me, i refrain from bearing false witness. practice truthful factual speech. rational speech. i.e. today is tuesday. the election is today.

in daozen, awareness is the space between e-go rational thinking intertwine e-motional responses in the brain body complex. the 3rd mode right speech intent is to be an honest person. it offers preventive measure for the brain truthful state of being. it is to direct and observe the 6 sense organ as it is. and the brain uses speech to convey truthful observation. but to use that speech with wisdom and compasion so that it wont hurt the feelings of others. its like a tite roap we need the balance rational and emotional reponses through truthful but kind speech.

for example. my son cognive brain is born with retarddation. he slow in his thinking. i as the father, who has reasonable cognitive rational/emotional balance says to my child its ok my son. you may be slow but your full of heart. learn at your own pase and never stop expressing your heartmind. a truthful speech and kind speech is my aim in my daozen practice

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

3 right speech in brain and body.

further thought speech that is not truthful but deceptive leads to only stress to the person and to others recieving it. pychologist call it gaslighting. saying the sky is red when its blue. that false speech is not helpful. it stress the others sense of reality. and if you manipulate speech so often the other person could do something not so kind to the perp who gaslight you. hense false speach can lead to your own stress oor bodily safety. the guy who says the sky is red not blue might be dismiss or a punch because the person through his intuition knows he is gaslighing purposely and he needs a lesson.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

3 right speech in brain and body.

the third kind of false speech is divisive speech like gossip false speech. the intent put two people against each other. one person tell the other person falsely what they did like she stole your money.blanten lie. the person go to the other did you steal my money. the other person is innocent and says no. but the lie is already said, leading to stress in both party.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

like dao duality, theres false speech and truthful speech. as a buddist i try to develop truthful speech.

one buddhist technique is say what is in your headspace through the 6 sense media in an objective manner. it the tecnique of mental noting. for example. in my room. note tv is on.on the cumputer. this helps the rational brain organse and mange our outer reality. and inner note. my mouth is dry. get drink. so the mental noting is wonderful tecnique to practice truthful speech. then it becomes a habit the art of seeing and idenify what is. and in our eveyday speech it acknowledge out outer and inner world in a more honest but kind manner.

    later,...

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

    truthful speech about self.

my buddhist tecnique is recogize your strong traits. psychologist call it positive reinforcement to the sense of self. it is good medicine to eleviate stressful focus-negative thought about yourself. this method turn a negative to a positve trait. for example. one of my best quality is effort. i do my best in landsaping. but one of my negative quality it takes time to get going. a sense of procrastination. i would tell my customer im sorry for being late. acknowledge the negative. but say im here and you know i get the job done. so the speech turn negative into a positive reality effort get things done. my behavior he is a hard worker over ways his procrastination tendency

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

this leads to my daozen practice of self inventory. i use my rational-emotional brain to be real with myself. this is truth inner speech. i look how my brain body does thing in the world. the bodhi intent to change behavior in side out. the buddhist goal is to be a moe wise compassionate smart well adjusted person. my goal is to be even keel and have a dao zense sensitive cool headspace. so i do a life review in nov to dec to set the intention next year.

so i look at my weekness and strength. for example the nature of passion. for example anger passion. i dont like hypocrites. hypocrites fuel my anger. but the art of breath the buddhist technique halps cool the anger passion and through rational emotional thinking frame anger in its human perspective. like objective but cool perspective. anger is an emotion. we all have it. anger have its negative/positive quality. so awreness to the nature of anger in our buddhist practice help us manage a passioal state call anger. we know like anything anger can lead to change. so i work that state in me. sometime i explode. anger get the best of me. but self honesty can help to do better. reconize my trigger than "stress" the brain to act out.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

about speech. use our truth base knoweldge to have a truthful assisence to your self and others. with education in our line of work we can use factual truth speach i=to inform others. this is positive truth speach help self and others grow in their headspace. my profession in landsaping. when a customer ask for advise i give an honest opinion based on the truth of landscaping. should i fertize the grass in fall too. i would say it recomended for the grass grow green in the spring.

last thought on right speech in mind and body.

the practice is to stabilize the brain to love truth than falshood in us
a more center thinking feeling how we interact with outer and inner condition helps our buddha way to speek truthfully to ourself, false speech is a trigger to stress to our brain body recest. if we lie to much people cant trust you. the cry wolf syndrome. when we need help no one will help. hense the brain body recess degenerate into more unwholsome act like addicted to booz drown their stress filled sorrow life

4 right action in brain and body.

in right action we refrain from the stressers that is caused.
we in brain refrain from stealing. strealing leads the habit energy in ego to want stuff that is not given. stealing has its cosequence. in my daozen practice it safe to ask want the brain need and want. i.e some of my client have a vegitable garden. i love cherry tomatos. so it is best to ask for some. when they were gone, i took some more. knowing my client they wouldnt mind i took some. when they got back i was caught right handed. the client said did you like the cherry tomatos. they had security camara. i fess up, and said i thought you wouldnt mind. i love cherry tomato. he said i dont mind. i dodge a bullet. but like anything when you fall get back up and practrice the refrain.

the saying practice makes perfect. we all can lapse in old conditioning. but if we keep at it it will be a part of our nature.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

so in my daozen practice i weigh my needs and want. i ask do i need this or its more a want.so being financially fruggal prevents me from stealing for the most part. i perchasse my needs fist than want.such as food, pay bills. what left over i splerge in my want such as perchasing blue ray movies or video games

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

so refrain from stealing and the habit not to steal makes the brain body safe from repercussions. go to jail or beat up by those who dont take kindly being a victim of theft

4 right action in brain and body.

the oppositive dont steal and balance the headspace is a charitable heart mind. the more we give of our self the more it makes the headspace accomplish in good deeds. give not only your resource but your time to close family and friends makes us in to a well rounded person. in my practice i give to the poor and spend quality time with my customer friends. i set my e-go intent good service lead to enough to live on by the money they give. and being financial responsible i dont have to steal. message from the universe or dharma can be found. what searve me bwst in life and finance was a fortune cookie message. it said weigh you gain weigh your lost but never greedy. and everthing will be fine. it has been true to me. the daozen faith dao provides or in the karate kid movie buddha provide.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

4 right action in brain and body.

one of the cause to steal is the habbit brain conditioning called greed. the buddha noted this greed lead to a selfish heart. wanting more than enough leads to an unhealthy brain state. but in truth they are in poverty. like hungry ghost, they feed their sense pleasure but still starve for more. we a wealthy in our bodhi. thee wealth it is enough. knowing our worth in buddha or christ nature. we are fed spiritual truth that sustain us in the long run. we are children of buddha earth. she will provide. we work our bodhi into shape the heart of dharma sharing is careing to ourself and others.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

later ty for listening, bye for now.

  • paulysotoopaulysotoo usa Veteran

4 right action in brain and body.

the next right action to lessen stress in the brain is refrain from taking life. dont kill if you can. this practice is to keep you/me safe in the world. with the golden rule our brain just know its a winning stategy in life. if we extend our loving kind attitude to our human neighbor everthing will be fine. we will get allong. and in my daozen extend dont kill to other creatures too. the insight all live wants to live from a bee to us binds our life on earth.

of course killing will stress the brain to max. if you kill expect karma to manifest. you get arrested. and sentence to jail. and being in jail is no picnic. in jail everyone for themselve. fear of being beat up, rape, kill is the reality in jail.

so personally i dont kill my neighbor. it is excersiving our rational brain to be aware love is best, respect others as self and no bad karma eye on us.

    later prepare for work.
