New Pope on her way...

lobsterlobster Crusty Veteran

Just heard one of the Popes or Dalia Lamer died?
[crocodile tears on standby]

Strangely enough, despite efforts to the contrary, we all die and don't return. Except Mithras and a few Marvel and DC Superheroes...

A lot die by accident, attrition and being asses. [who noticed?]

Strangely enough, we also have reasons to live for example:

Popes, Queens and some atheists live lives of service to others. I'll join but am too shellfish.
Unlike this Egyptian Goose and her goslings...

It seems to me if you do that the priests will revolt @lobster…

I was just watching a little news segment on the passing of the pope, and it seems they are going to have the body lie in an open casket for three days at the foot of the altar in St Peter’s while people file past to say goodbye to the pope.

They also said he wanted to be interred in a church nearby in a simple spot marked only ‘Franciscus’ and wanted to have a simple and more humble funeral.

Respect, he had warmth and was a real human being.

  • Not a Catholic nor do I subscribe to the politics of the man made Catholic rules but rest in peace Francis, he seemed to show much humanity from within a corrupt, dogmatic system. Core Christianity without the politics I totally respect even though I am not myself a Christian.

There are 18 African Cardinals. As far as I am aware, my chances of the Papacy are not likely. Ah well... Better to try than to be ex-communicated. B)
They should be choosing by 8 May...

Yes, it’s odd, while he was alive it was easier to ignore him, but in passing his message about peace and simplicity seems to have reached more people.

This statement was reported to have been made by the Pope during his hospital stay. He didn't actually make it, but I found it moving so am posting it for that and to highlight something we all know about misleading statements online.

The walls of hospitals have heard more honest prayers than churches...They have witnessed far more sincere kisses than those in airports...It is in hospitals that you see a homophobe being saved by a gay doctor.A privileged doctor saving the life of a beggar...In intensive care, you see a Jew taking care of a racist...A police officer and a prisoner in the same room receiving the same care...A wealthy patient waiting for a liver transplant, ready to receive the organ from a poor donor...It is in these moments, when the hospital touches the wounds of people, that different worlds intersect according to a divine design. And in this communion of destinies, we realize that alone, we are nothing. The absolute truth of people, most of the time, only reveals itself in moments of pain or in the real threat of an irreversible loss.A hospital is a place where human beings remove their masks and show themselves as they truly are, in their purest essence. This life will pass quickly, so do not waste it fighting with people.Do not criticize your body too much.Do not complain excessively.Do not lose sleep over bills.Make sure to hug your loved ones.Do not worry too much about keeping the house spotless.Material goods must be earned by each person—do not dedicate yourself to accumulating an inheritance.. . .You are waiting for too much: Christmas, Friday, next year, when you have money, when love arrives, when everything is perfect...Listen, perfection does not exist.A human being cannot attain it because we are simply not made to be fulfilled here. Here, we are given an opportunity to learn. So, make the most of this trial of life—and do it now.Respect yourself, respect others. Walk your own path, and let go of the path others have chosen for you.Respect: do not comment, do not judge, do not interfere.Love more, forgive more, embrace more, live more intensely! And leave the rest in the hands of the Creator.

The conclave rituals started this morning… the longest conclave in modern times lasted 5 days, so it’s pretty likely there will be a new pope soon.

My first reaction was shock: personally, I'd stay away from that pile of embers (an American Pope at the time of Trump). EDIT: But I must stay open-minded and not judge a man by his country of origin, even at this time.

Centrist with more liberal social leanings. Supposedly supports Pope Francis' support of marginalized groups and the poor while upholding conservative Catholic views on women priests and abortion/capital punishment. Seems to be the continuation of Popale Francis' views and expected the doctrine position. He’s criticized Trump in the past which makes the American connection even juicer, hahaha. His diocese was in Peru. And he did precide over adding the woman votes to the bloc, right? His credentials look pretty good. shrugs
I admit, I too was shocked.. my friend joked Trump must have threatened a tariff on the pope mobile if he USA didnt get the pick, hahaha

I still consider all of us (even me) Pope. There has never been a Pope like US. Some of us are more Buddhist than Catholic or Christian...

I’ve been hearing some not-terrible things about this Pope, he seems to be a good choice, more a continuation of the direction started with Franciscus.

Pope Leo XIV laments people valuing “technology, money and success” over Christianity in first mass as pontiff. But you’d probably have to pry his iPhone away from his cold dead hand to separate him from it.

I've had a bad feeling about this post ever since I posted it. It goes against my values and the truth as I perceive it - that people should not be judged by any social group they supposedly come from.
So, I wash my mouth with soap and take back this post.
At this time, I don't have a better formulation/view and I'm still concerned about Trump thinking he has "his" Pope.
