I came across this heart-warming documentary about the turnaround of Waterstones (and in the USA Barnes and Noble by the same man), really made my day to hear about the way bookstores are surviving on the high street.Made my day too. Many thanks.
I used to go to Foyles a lot, decades ago. The rudest most useless staff imaginable BUT the greatest collection of books on obscure subjects for sure. It retains the name but is mentioned in the documentary as bought but not rebranded.
Tottenham Court Road was one of my favourite spots in London. You had a Waterstones, a Blackwell’s, Foyles and Forbidden Planet within a stones throw of each other, and if you felt like it you could combine it with an outing to the National Portrait Gallery, and there is a great Whiskey Shop near there as well.
In the time I used to live within an hours train ride of London these were some of my favourite outings, together with the Tate and the Victoria and Albert museum.

We find ourselves in a situation wherein we have an amoral sociopath narcissistic who has surrounded himself with both sycophants and other sociopaths and narcissist. We have selfish greedy individuals at every chock point who block actions to curtail his ambitions or protect the people from same.
We also have an obviously sick man in obvious and dangerous (for the country and the world) decline. He is the culmination of over 50 years of deliberate propaganda and concerted actions and mechanization. He may not have been the culmination they envisioned, but he is their tool - the easily malleable idiot who assumes he is in control and listens to the puppet masters and groomers regardless of the real world impact of his (assumed by him) personal decision.
We know, from observation and educated analysis, that he is under constant medical attention and monitoring, that he has received "experimental drugs and procedures". These have, unfortunately, apparently kept him mobile enough, with the deliberate support of the key operatives (advisers, puppeteers, House Speaker, etc.) and talking heads.
Even if he and his entire administration were removed from office today, the damage done will take years to undo, possibly generations in some areas.
Politics aside, while we, individually, may not have a measurable impact, we can still overcome the chaos and surrounding us, each changing our immediate environment through individual actions and decisions. Cumulatively, we change the world for the better.
Peace to all
