Re: What movies are you watching?
I'm a movie and arthouse enthusiast, so there are a lot I enjoy or consider my favorites. Some of the ones I most recently watched and consider to be masterpieces: Sorcerer, Tár, Afire, Aftersun, Shoplifters (rewatch).
A fairly positive experience from about a week ago: Superman (2025). I found it to be entertaining and it brought the character closer to me (I was never a fan of Superman for some reason), because it basically told a coming of age story with him going through some healthy dose of disillusionment and breaking with the drive to meet all kinds of external expectations. I really liked that aspect of it.

This is what I appreciate with Jubilee. You can see over the years how the discussion changes minds, often not right in the moment, but later on if the general topic comes up again people's opinions have changed to include good points others have made.

Yes, some of the opinions expressed by the MEGA mob around Medhi can, for various reasons, make people feel uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s not just the extremity of their views, but the unsettling recognition that certain aspects might, in some way, align with one’s own, that can be even more confronting. For me, it’s important to face that discomfort when it arises.
The content isn’t meant to be 'enjoyable': it’s about exploring what makes MEGA people tick, and what that reveals about human nature, particularly how easily some can be influenced or drawn in.
There were moments where you could sense a shift, where at least a couple of them began to recognise the flaws in their own logic once certain things were pointed out.

I agree, it’s nice to see a spectacular clip of someone surfing but if it’s AI generated you feel a bit like you have been fooled. I wish YouTube had a “no AI content” setting.

But its like at first its impressive, but once I (and others judging by the comments) realized its AI I just don't want to watch anything. If I don't know if what I'm consuming is true what's the point of taking it in? From mindless scrolling of cat videos to the philosophy of AI Jung.

The end of the spiritual question
Just recently I had a discussion with a neo-sannyasin friend, who said to me that all her spiritual questions had ended with Osho. Osho once said in a discourse, “I don’t answer questions — I destroy them”. So she doesn’t read spiritual books anymore, because of course why would you if you no longer have a spiritual question.
This set me to thinking, what exactly is my interest in spiritual books? After some thought, I arrived at the question, what is my place in this life? And I discovered that recently that question has been fading as well. I came across a piece by Alan Watts not long ago, where he talks about how human beings are lived by the universe, that just as we don’t digest our food or pump our blood, that our lives too are automatisms but on a different level, and we are the universe engaged in a play of becoming aware.
It seems to me that a lot of these things seem obvious but if you let them sink in long enough they become deep truths, and they become the end of your questions as they do so.
