“You are an explorer, and you represent our species, and the greatest good you can do is to bring back a new idea, because our world is endangered by the absence of good ideas. Our world is in crisis because of the absence of consciousness.”
― Terence McKenna

Whether you think you can't - you're right".

I liken meditation to a development of an off-leash area for all my sense gates where they can be offered some freedom from an ego's/mind control phobias. Here in the off-leash areas of our practices, sense gate data can come & go, relatively free of our own identities overtly habituated control issues. In such a practice, each fleeting moment can be trusted to be completely actionable, compared to all the other moments which are theoretical.

Is it worth trying to untangle the mind? Perhaps as the Zenniths say we should rest in the no-mind, and from there arrive at perceptions undistorted by mind’s interpretations.

Luckily for me, I have the right to call myself whatever I want and don't have to subject myself to the whims and strict criteria of others and what they deem to be necessary. Not only because I'm a rebellious free spirit, but because even strict doctrinal traditions have their rebels and outliers and even outright heretics. Nothing is ever as black and white as we try to make it.

When there are no more perceived truths to be destroyed, what remains?
Nothing.
However that is an idealisation, not feasible or possible without a lot of work. That is why we engage skilful means.

Between the ages of 13-18 I was heavily drawn to Michael Moorcocks series on the Eternal Champion. He was always being screwed around with by the gods to keep the balance between order and chaos. One life he would be a powerful instrument for good and another he would be an evil war lord. Sometimes a few incarnations meet and even fight together. Sometimes they know they are incarnations of each other and sometimes they don't. I really enjoyed them.
In a different vein and in order there is Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Zen in the Martial Arts by Bruce Hyams and Zen Keys as well as The Heart of the Buddha's Teachings by Thich Nhat Hanh.
I love reading but those were the life changers.
I used to have a habit of only very seldom buying new flowers, and I would let the old flowers stand on the mantelpiece and wither. My mother used to call it my ‘dried flower display’. But I don’t know if it is such a bad thing, after all buying flowers also strains the agricultural system and it costs money.

No, this is a thread for funny jokes and cartoons. This isn't a thread for personal angst and things which aren't really jokes or funnies...
Keep to side-splitting hilarious contributions, thanks!
