One thing that I came across some time ago which may be relevant here, is that Rudolf Steiner, the rather visionary educator and founder of the Anthroposophy movement, thought that bees were after man the most intelligent creatures on the planet.

Did @Lobster put sentience and politicians in the same sentence? There is a raging debate as to the sentience of politicians. Insects, however, are sentient.

Well the last couple of days have been wintery days, temperature not going above 17C
Lots of cloud...However it looks as though the sun is shinning on part of the mainland, that's a place called Coromandel in the distance...Hot Water beach is there, an under water spring of hot water flows under parts of the beach and if you dig just below the surface, thermal water comes bubbling up to the surface, what beach goers do in winter and summer is dig a little pool to lie in the warm water....I've haven't been there in many years, the last time I visited there was when my children were toddlers....

Converting the pets and busy on studies in Buddhism
Sorry all been busy on advanced stuff in fpmt tibetan Buddhism and converting my little teacher the dog a staunch Abrahamic who believes in karma and rebirth but Christian style. He likes the fpmt teachings the dog. I asked about the dog being a dharma friend and guide due to a prophetic dream of a teacher and student ie the dog as student and I not sure but I believe I was the teacher. Anyways the cats aren’t fully interested they listen to some of it but not all.
I am getting vows I was told I can use the ceremony to get layvows by prostration to buddha statue. It’s ten virtues the only problem I have is meatless diet as meat helps my stomach as I have stomach issues and murdering insects as I am a janitor.
Though I drink alcohol Bahamas’s mamas on vacation gonna miss them.
i need to get back into the discovery of Buddhism course. Ie basic
