“Hope is a bad thing. It means that you are not what you want to be. It means that part of you is dead, if not all of you. It means that you entertain illusions.”
Don't know whether to "flag" that one as funny or as insightfull.
On second thought, Insightful is better, since he's wrong about hope. The Spanish for hope is Esperar, which also means to wait/await. Conveys a sense of quietude and calm cheer to me. If that is wrong or dead, then the hush in the symphony is also a cheat. But not so: it's an essential part of the music. Life is music and music is life and it's seasoned just so at certain times. You can't throw out one of the ingredients without ruining the full effect of the delicacy.
Also, without dreams, without imagination and projection, we'd still live in caves 'cuz nobody woulda seen "outside the box."

Che - After reading through this thread I can only say one thing to you - you inspired me and I was happy today!, I felt things that were not there, I saw things that were hidden, I heard things that no one told me about, I tasted and smelled the divine in everything.
Namaste anataman, all my life I have been uplifted and inspired by simple short phrases that wise men have penned. I think we owe them a great debt for enriching and nurturing us spiritually and mentally and to the members of this forum who have had the love in their hearts to seek them out and append them here. Thank you all :om:
