"Jesus said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty."
"Always, I am amazed at what we tell, how much faith we put in it. Never really knowing who is listening, how they're going to take it, where." -- Bronwen Wallace
Clear mind is like the full moon in the sky. Sometimes clouds come and cover it, but the moon is always behind them. Clouds go away, then the moon shines brightly. So don't worry about clear mind: it is always there. When thinking comes, behind it is clear mind. When thinking goes, there is only clear mind. Thinking comes and goes, comes and goes, You must not be attached to the coming or the going.
Suffering is a sign that you're out of touch with the truth. Suffering is given to you that you might open your eyes to the truth, that you might understand that there's falsehood somewhere, just as physical pain is given to you so you will understand that there is disease or illness somewhere. Suffering points out that there is falsehood somewhere. Suffering occurs when you clash with reality. When your illusions clash with reality when your falsehoods clash with the truth, then you have suffering. Otherwise there is no suffering.
^^^ My story about a similar saying: I used to always say "I'm busier than a one-armed man hanging wall-paper"
Then at work, I said it...and around the corner came our new secretary.... who had only one arm. The very next day, my daughter and I ended up saving a frog who was in the pool and couldn't get out. He was missing an arm! Never saw a frog with one arm! He hopped away. That awareness/lesson hit me square up my ass for about 2 weeks. I saw people with 1 arm and thought....shit! That's not busy. That's determination. That's patience.
“Hope is important because it can make the present moment less difficult to bear. If we believe that tomorrow will be better, we can bear a hardship today.” Thích Nhất Hạnh
“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.” Vincent van Gogh
"The fish trap exists because of the fish. Once you've gotten the fish you can forget the trap. The rabbit snare exists because of the rabbit. Once you've gotten the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words exist because of meaning. Once you've gotten the meaning, you can forget the words. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words so I can talk with him?" Chuang Tzu
Knowing the rationale for following rules is more important than just knowing what are the rules to follow, as some rules might be irrational, which makes following them irrational too.
You can explore the universe looking for somebody who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and you will not find that person anywhere.
"How many times must a man look up before he can see the sky How many ears must one man have before he can hear people cry And how many deaths will it take to admit that too many people have died The answer my friend is blown' in the wind, the answer is blowin' in the wind" Bob Dylan
“The source of love is deep in us and we can help others realize a lot of happiness. One word, one action, one thought can reduce another person’s suffering and bring that person joy.” Thích Nhất Hạnh
"If you could give one piece of advice to a large group of people, what would it be?" "Try your best to deal with life without medicating yourself." "You mean drugs?" "I mean drugs, food, shopping, money, whatever. I ain't judging anybody, either. I was hooked on heroin for years. But now I've learned that every feeling will pass if you give it time. And if you learn to deal with your feelings, they'll pass by faster each time. So don't rush to cover them up, or you're never gonna learn." Humans Of New York
Saw this yesterday and it's kind of been rattling around in my head since- "Few people have the wisdom to prefer the criticism that would do them good, to the praise that deceives them."

IMO, the slogans "Got Milk?" and "Got Jesus?" just don't ring true after listening to Kabir.
