In addition to Buddhism surely buddhists can talk about other topics. I just went & got a cup of coffee & made it iced coffee & I'm having a fabulous day / I would like to hear people's opinions on Buddhist human beings dating. Monastic life does Not interest me. Surely this forum online isn't just to talk about Buddhism. Every conversation I've ever had with another human being has more than one topic. Can we talk about art work? Theatre? Movies? Careers?

Well, it IS a Buddhist forum. Inevitably, other topics come into play as we talk about our daily lives. But primarily, Buddhism and related things is what we tend to talk about.
As far as dating, Buddhists really are just other human beings Their/our views on any topic vary quite a bit. Most of us aren't monastics. But we live our lives, to some degree or another, with a basis in Buddhism.
Hey @Kindhumanbeing - that's what the General Banter Category is for.
Trust me, we'll talk about anything!!!
When it comes to dating though, I don't have much to offer....not my strong point right now
Yeah, pick a topic, any topic, OP. That's what General Banter is for.
We talk about more topics than you can shake a stick at!
From Avarice to Zen, we've got it covered!
Happy to hear it. I'm knitting a snood for a friend, and am also having a good time... (I knit a lot you know. Very meditative.... )
As opposed to Buddhist Chimps, or Buddhist dolphins?
First of all, I haven't met a Buddhist that ISN'T a human being.
Secondly, most Buddhists not set on a monastic or celibate life, date, get married, break up, divorce, date again, maybe stay single, play the field, have sex, have children, masturbate and generally let their hair down.
What in particular was your concern, regarding dating, if any....?
Monastic life doesn't interest 99% of this forum....
Er... yes. It's a Buddhist forum, so in the main, we tend to discuss matters, always with a heavy slant on Buddhism... What did you expect from a forum called newBUDDHIST'....?
Yes...
Yup. Feel free to begin any discussions on those topics you wish, in General Banter. Or look through the threads to see any you might like to comment on....
The three things that should not be discussed in the workplace, politics, sex, and religion, tend to be recurring themes here. We also have our occasional forays into foot fungus, genetic engineering, iPad art, vegetarianism, and the perennial death and taxes. Read old threads. (Back in the 60s, those were the best kind to wear.)
Thich Nhat Hanh's guide to finding your one true soul mate.
I like talking about ice-cream.
Rocky Road, Heavenly hash, chocolate, vanilla, Moose tracks, cookies & cream, peppermint? Thanks for making me smile
Knitting is wonderful
Everything is wonder full @Kindhumanbeing if one puts one's mind to it
Oh you are so right. And very meditative, too. I'm thinking of starting a knitting group - just like-minded folks who will get together one afternoon a week, and sit, knit, chew the cud... Ladies, gentlemen, boys 'n' girls, all ages welcome, just to learn, exchange ideas and find common ground. Or wool. Or acrylic, as is often the case!
-Physics too :-)
