Free Buddhism books

Amazon.com has many free kindle Buddhism, Meditation and Yoga books. The books include a free online kindle reader that is quite good. You can even download the books to read offline.

We get a lot of applicants giving "I want free books" as a reason for joining. Good thing they're available elsewhere, because as is distinctly outlined on the application page, we don't send, lend, provide or have any free books here.... :D

One of my Zen teacher's teachers was once asked about the practice of charging impecunious-but-sincere newcomers so much for Zen retreats. He laughed and said, "Oh yes -- charge them a lot. That way they will think Dharma is worth something."

Hmm. The best things in life are free, and if your value system is so topsy-turvy that it doesn’t recognise this, then perhaps that is a good place to start making changes?

Yeah, except - there's nothing in life that is 'free' (taken to it's Nth point of analysis)....

You can also get free paper books from budaedu.org, dhammatalks.org and pariyatti.org. Of course they appreciate donations.
