Totally useless fact:
David Bowie's eyes were NOT different colours. he had a condition (anisocoria) in which one of his pupils was permanently dilated, but the irises were actually the same colour...
Totally useless fact and unpopular opinion:
"Earthling" was his 3rd best album.
What’s your favourite self isolation song?
I keep coming back to this hit from 1986.
Just as a counterpoint to corona...
And this one...
All I listen to these days is Scala Radio. Great mix of classical, musical, movies and mindfulness.
One big long holiday ......
A bit of morning dance music...
The 80’s ride again!
I saw them in London in the early 70s....
Here we go...
I remember dancing to this at a High School Disco in 1984! Scary.....
David Byrne = genius
@Shoshin I was just listening to Once in a Lifetime the other day.
My son is starting to learn Japanese at school
There is no depression in New Zealand, there are no sheep on our farms...
Since I have time and YouTube I've been listening to albums on this list:
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/500-greatest-albums-of-all-time-156826/eurythmics-touch-47932/
London is a cacophony. I can now hear silence. Train lines swing through. Bird songs a singing. Mala and mantra.
Singing The Music No One Hears ...

So Gently We Go - I Mother Earth
Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me around
I feel numb, born with a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground, head in the sky
It's okay, I know nothing's wrong, nothing
Oh! I got plenty of time
Oh! You got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money, always for love
Cover up and say goodnight, say goodnight
Home, is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home, she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from the other
I find you, or you find me?
There was a time before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I'll be, where I'll be oh!
We drift in and out
Oh! Sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home and
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up
Eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head I got ooh!
Think...
Home=Nirvana is where I want to be, but I guess I'm already there..= Samsara is Nirvana... Nirvana is Samsara...
Amazing what a little bit of creative imagination can do...
You might enjoy this, it’s a dutch song by a man named Ramses Shaffy, which enjoins the listener to “sing, fight, cry, laugh, work and admire”. He was a well-known performer in the 70’s, and I met him once when I was young.
Have you ever noticed how soothing rain sounds are?
Yes... I have those sounds as my "Here's some help in getting to sleep" app....
I've discovered Shostakovich this week and his preludes and fugues are occupying my listening time.
Especially this verse:
The way I see it, you're probably freest from the ages one to four
Around the age of five you're shipped away for your body to be stored
They promise education, but really they give you tests and scores
And they predictin' prison population by who scoring the lowest
And usually the lowest scores the poorest and they look like me
And every day on evening news they feed you fear for free
And you so numb you watch the cops choke out a man like me
And 'til my voice goes from a shriek to whisper, "I can't breathe"
And you sit there in the house on couch and watch it on TV
The most you give's a Twitter rant and call it a tragedy
But truly the travesty, you've been robbed of your empathy
Replaced it with apathy, I wish I could magically
Fast forward the future so then you can face it
And see how fucked up it'll be
I promise I'm honest, they coming for you
The day after they comin' for me
I'm readin' Chomsky, I read Bukowski
I'm layin' low for a week
I said somethin' on behalf of my people
And I popped up in Wikileaks
Thank God that I'm covered, the devil is smothered
And you know the evil don't sleep
Dick Gregory told me a couple of secrets before he laid down in his grave
All of us serve the same masters, all of us nothin' but slaves
Never forget in the story of Jesus, the hero was killed by the state
Thanks @Jason for the lyrics.
As you know I find your music taste disquieting ... and yet I am quite happy with the discordant din of Tibetan Temple 'musac'.
I clearly am biased.
[Lobster forlornly heads to the back of the detachment class]
Here is my best compromise, The National Anthem ...
Don't give up the fight....Stand up for your rights...
What on earth did I just watch...?!
It's a Khene...a traditional Laotian mouth organ
@federica @Shoshin
A Khene is used in Laos, Eastern Thailand (Isan region) originally used for their local folk music... which includes the genre molam. In the 70s, technology came and created very curious pieces.
One of my favourite songs....
"The young girl from Makaleng"
Glad it's used vertically, and not horizontally. One must be grateful for small mercies. Rather than big mouths!
It actually sounds lovely... thanks for the clarifications. Now I know what I just listened to - !
The soundtrack to the film The Wanderers. It's pure USA 1960s, but class.
I rarely listen to music; I have very little 'soul', or inner peace - mindfulness - to stick with it.
Wise enough...I wonder...
Andreas Vollenweider — Behind the Gardens
Then ... maybe dance to it ... ?

It’s raining in Aus at the moment so I’ve been making a ‘warm’ playlist. Here are a few from the list or more than a few
