Maybe a thread to share some of your favourite haiku. The haiku of Basho have always resonated with me.

Temple bells die out.
The fragrant blossoms remain-
A perfect evening!
How about ones written by NB'ers?
Any brave souls out there besides me?
Where did I come from?
You came from mommy's tummy.
That's not what I mean.

Haiku Oh Haiku
What is it you're expressing?
Is nothing special ? (That's better )

Now this year goes away:
I've kept it hidden from my parents
that my hair is gray

Thank you @federica
Any time dear friend
This is what I do, you know.
Uses, I do have.....
Threads of the Haiku
The river over flowing
Beavers lie in wait
Oh hello @David!
It's nice to see you again!
Long time we no see!
Flower bud opens
Observing phenomena
Empty becomes form
Springtime colourful
Greens, Yellows Violets Reds Blues
Mother Nature wakes
A poetic thread,
Heads to a silent point...
Where hidden joy lies!
Hey @federica
Yeah, I'm still kickin around
Hope you're doing great
Neapolitan
Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum
Blissful trinity
In the 'puter's screen
We might see a reflection
It's not what you think...
At times life might suck
Thus have I heard "Shit happens"
Better out than in
Warm sun of springtime
The bright snow is melting fast:
Puddles on the floor.
Birds calling, singing
Geese fly low over still water
Buds have yet to break.
Spring awakens joy
Pink blossom framed by blue sky -
The most blissful sight!
Life is wonder full
As I watch water flowing
Where to I wonder
The cat has done a whoopsie
In my beret, ooo!
Harrassments, Betty.
Now is the moment
But try to seek the moment
One finds it No where
Awareness moment
I am nowhere to be found
Fleeting sense of self
Words aren't true, neither are you
What the eff
Is a Haiku?
Okay, I made that up, and it probably doesn't qualify, but I don't get Haiku's... are they meant to capture a moment... to arouse a state of mind... or what?
Do a little research. @mindatrisk.
Here's a link to help you on your way.
We love to Haiku,
Whether you get it, or not.
Poems at their best.
I am very very tired
Working shortstaffed sucks donkeys balls
This makes no sense, bollocks
My name is Haiku
But you can call me David
I'm undercover.
Send down your chill winds
As if to wrestle a prize
Here I am, unfazed.
Blue sparks the water
The moon fragments waver
Ripples in ripples
Desert winds quiet
the owl perched on a pile
of bricks. Autumn moon.
Itchy sore red eyes
Achoo! sneezing frenzy starts
Spring fever has sprung
Dear @Hozan knows haiku are my passion:
crashing waves
leave castaways
from by-gone seas
breathing out my mind:
emptying concepts, notions,
useless yesteryears
wilted bud
pressed in forlorn book-
a sigh heaves
On the biggest island in the world
Echos of sneezes
I feel your pain
haiku what a sound.it must be a lot of fun.it shines like the sun.
Five syllables first
Then come seven in between
Lastly, five moras
(see link I offered @mindatrisk ...)
The more purists believe that in English one should try to reduce the use of syllables to a maximum of 12, even less, rather than the classical 17 from the 5-7-5 form.
Words are longer in Japanese than they are in English, and 17 syllables makes for too many words.
That's the most modern approach.
Some settle for 3-5-3 or blank, as long as lines are short.
mala beads count
hundred-eight hopes
in Sanskrit utterance
Cold chill creeping in
For some it's that time of year
Look how the leaves fall
The sun's warm greetings
For some it's that time of year
Look blooming flowers
Weather the weather
Each passing moment life death
Special time of year
No mud, no lotus-
strewn with joy and woe, the path.
So the Buddhas taught
Temple doors ajar:
golden Buddhas smiling down
from their Nirvana
Watts so it would seem
Controversial character
Awaken from dream ?
Lotus blossom wow
Rising up from mud's prison
It is wonder full
Where is Buddha now
While this sandwich is eaten?
He's behind your ear.
