Don't know how to put up the link as active text. It's http://www(DOT)youtube.com/watch?v=klcyHATNQVg
slightly different recording from the one I last posted. This one's more complete
What a voice...!

Apparently she isn't known much outside the UK, which is unfortunate. I've known her music with Fairport Convention, but never knew much of her solo music.

You want some unsettling space ambient music? This makes me feel like an enemy ship is going to de-cloak right behind me

Nymphs, veiled sea-dryads, dryads, come and weep at my misery,
For I languish in such affliction that my mind is dead rather than weak.
Laments of death have surrounded me, pains of hell have surrounded me.
I dunno, something about this just puts me to sleep at night. I guess having technology sing to me instead of a person puts me more at ease. Funny how that works.
This one is definitely relaxing, I like the video of a lightning storm too.

My poor heart is not my own,
It is yours, my sweet beloved.
But one thing
I ask of you,
My own adored one,
It is your love:
Keep it for me.
Got the windows open The loons just came back in the past week or so, our one final sign of the coming of summer. No music I'd rather hear than campfire and loons.
Yes I love loons too, it's really a haunting sound to hear, in a good way though.
I wonder how many orchestras across the world are playing this tonight?
NEW AMON AMARTH!
Words cannot express my joy.
here guys, crank up the volume for this one, make sure you have something that can handle some bass. Stand up, and just try not moving to the music, I DARE you.

Schubert: Nacht und traume (Ian Bostridge / Julian Drake)
I sang this back in my music school days, but was never as good as this!

Good morning son
I am a bird
Wearing a brown polyester shirt
You want a coke?
Maybe some fries?
The roast beef combo's only $9.95
But it's okay
You don't have to pay
I've got all the change
Everybody knows
It hurts to grow up
But everybody does
It's so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
We're still fighting it
We're still fighting it
And you're so much like me
I'm sorry
Good morning son
Twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down
And have a few beers
And I can tell
You about today
And how I picked you up
And everything changed
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things
Everybody knows
It sucks to grow up
But everybody does
It's so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
We're still fighting it
We're still fighting it
You'll try and try
And one day you'll fly
Away from me
Good morning son
Good morning son
Good morning son
I am a bird
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things
Everybody knows
It hurts to grow up
But everybody does
It's so weird to be back here
Let me tell you what
The years go on and
We're still fighting it
We're still fighting it
And you're so much like me
I'm sorry

Dan Bern: "God Said No"

I met God On the edge of town
Where the wind meets the stillness
Where the darkness meets the light
Where the ocean meets the sky
Where the desert meets the rain
Where the earth meets the heavens
On the edge of town I met God
I asked God
Do one thing for me
Send me back in time
Send me to Seattle
Let me go
Find Kurt Cobain
Take away his gun
Take away his bullets
Talk to him
Make him wanna live
Tell him how we love him
Help him see his glory
God Said No
If I sent you back
If you really found him
You would only ask him
If he could
Help you get a deal
If he knows a lawyer
If he can help you
God Said No
I asked God
Do one thing for me
Send me back in time
Send me to Berlin
Let me find
The one they call Hitler
I will stalk him
I will bring him down
I will bring along
A powerful gun
Loaded with bullets
Obliterate his memory
God Said No
If I sent you back
You would get caught up
In theory and discussion
You would let your fears
Delay and distract you
You would make friends
You would take a lover
God Said No
I asked God
Do one thing for me
Send me back in time
Send me to Jerusalem
Let me go
Let me go find Jesus
Let me save his life
As they try to kill him
Let me take him down
Down from the cross
Take the iron from his body
Try to heal his wounds
God Said No
If I let you go
If you really found him
Walking with the cross
You would stare
Your tongue no longer working
Eyes no longer seeing
Ears no longer hearing
God said Time
Time belongs to me
Time's my secret weapon
My final advantage
God turned away
From the edge of town
I knew I was beaten
And that now was all I had
God Said No
(BOC is one of my favorite electronic groups as well. I could only connect with a couple songs from their newest release though...=(
(.....random other song:)
VERY happy with this release!
Sigur Ros' albums and EPs tend to revolve around three modes (though never exclusively): (1) dark and often loud-- such as Von, ( ) and the dissonant Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do, (2) more melodic pop-oriented material-- like Med Sud or (3) out and out ambient music, like their last album Valtari.
These modes overlap to some degree, but this new album is a good balance between all three. I'm glad because I was somewhat disappointed with their last album. They've revitalized themselves without forcing it.
