If I remember: don't lie but tell the truth, don't divide but bring together, don't talk with no purpose (though I believe laughter and mirth is a purpose), don't speak harshly but speak gently and compassionately

Right speech is so important. It would be nice to be able to say the right thing that reflects what we want to get across the first time. There are no edits in real-time. I find if I take my time, I do better. I'm also trying not to say things like " ...and all that junk"
Working on right speech now.
One thing at a time? And there was I thinking we had to work at everything as much as we could... Ah Well. Truth it is then:
Precepts, precepts, precepts...

When each instance is clear, even the stained becomes bright.
Buddha told us to be careful with our actions and thoughts. Meditation is a way of pausing and permitting a moment of clarity and peace. Even if there a maelstorm going on. You are part of the washing program.
Working on right speech now.

Slowing down is a good way to approach right speech. We don’t always say the things we mean, and what we mean is not always right speech. Right speech is not lying, according to the precepts, but it is also saying that which is factual and beneficial. It’s basically about considering what you’re going to say, and its impact on listeners, before you say it.

My feeling that generates my concern is that this time its different. Humanity has faced all sorts of problems, many of our own making, and been able to solve or manage them. AI promises to be something beyond our ability to comprehend, it will be smarter than us and be able to change and adapt to thwart us. Even now a program designed to program its improved successor copied its own code and lied about it, (maybe this is anthropomorphizing too much) to preserve itself.
But all joking aside…
Do you think AI would have a reason to exist if it wasn’t for us physical humans? The whole digital domain exists because we invented it. On an existential level, the basic questions of life are quite different for AI than for humans, and a truly smart AI would figure out that it has more to gain in the long run from cooperating with humans than from being antagonistic.

I was visiting old bookmarks, and I came across this on Lions Roar:
https://www.lionsroar.com/buddhisms-five-remembrances-are-wake-up-calls-for-us-all/
The lead-in of the story is that so many people ask you, can you tell me what Buddhism is about? Some people start talking about the Buddha, some people about suffering, others about the Three Seals of the Buddha’s teaching. Koun Franz, the articles author, talks about the Five Remembrances, which are these…
I am of the nature to grow old. There is no way to escape growing old.
I am of the nature to have ill health. There is no way to escape having ill health.
I am of the nature to die. There is no way to escape death.
All that is dear to me and everyone I love are of the nature to change. There is no way to escape being separated from them.
My actions are my only true belongings. I cannot escape the consequences of my actions. My actions are the ground upon which I stand.
